'The Trip We Took Over The Mountain' is an album of Irish Traditional Music by father & son duo, Charlie Piggott (button accordion) and Rowan Piggott (fiddle).
Most of the sets on this 15 track album were put together on a short tour that took them from Miltown Malbay over the Burren to Rowan's childhood home of Kinvara. As well as jigs, reels, polkas, marches, slip-jigs, waltzes, slides, flings and hornpipes, the album features a couple of songs from Rowan who is a fine traditional singer as well as a fiddle player.

Charlie Piggott was one of the founding members of De Danann, with whom he toured extensively in Europe, Canada and the US and recorded several albums. His other recordings include the eponymous The Lonely Stranded Band, The New Road (with Gerry Harrington), and his recent solo album 'The Days That Are Gone'. Charlie plays a Black Dot Hohner Double-Ray accordion tuned C#/D.
His son, Rowan Piggott, is a fiddle player and singer who grew up in the foothills of the Burren on the west coast of Ireland, but now lives in Sheffield in the North of England. The author of two successful tunebooks, he leads fiddle workshops at festivals all over the country. His debut album, Mountscribe, was met with critical acclaim as was the compilation album he put together for his SONGHIVE folksong project to raise awareness of the current plight of our bees. He performs with folk trio, The Wilderness Yet.
